Before this pandemic forced us to “Shelter in Place” I have to admit I knew I needed a new mattress. I spent time researching mattresses, asking my friends about their mattresses, but I put no effort into saving for a new mattress. I’d lay on friends’ beds jealous of how cozy their mattresses were but did I put any effort into getting a cozy mattress of my own, of course not. A new mattress didn’t seem like self care, I was wrong.
Something I didn’t know prior to this pandemic is how much time I would spend in my non-cozy bed. I also didn’t know how much of an impact my mattress would have on my body. It started with a little back pain. I thought it was the result of the thirty-day ab challenge I was attempting. My foam roller became my best friend but when I finished the challenge, the back pain continued. I also found that my shoulder, not the one that was formerly dislocated, had started giving me some problems.
If working out wasn’t causing the issue it must be the bed, right? So I took some steps to make this better. As you read above I have yet to save up for a new mattress so that will have to wait but something I can do now is replace my pillows and get a mattress pad to make living a little easier.
This mattress pad is making a slight difference and I have begun saving for a mattress so please let me know your recommendations. Before that let me brag about these pillows real quick. I bought two different sets of pillows, some super soft* and some super super soft* As a back and side sleeper the super soft pillows were made for me. The super super soft pillows are hotel quality by name and in reality. When I laid into these pillows I briefly forgot where I was. It felt like I checked into a hotel on the first day of the vacation I have been longing for.
I could go on and on about these pillows instead I’m going to go spoil myself with their comfort and I hope you do too.
