Boy are you in for a treat! These are some of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco all in a ten block radius. Why bother leaving the Mission District?
Pre-breakfast Situation: Dynamo Doughnuts and Coffee
I know this isn’t a meal, maybe it will catch on. Regardless I needed to put this one on the list. If I didn’t I would be doing you all a disservice. Dynamo Doughnuts brings so much joy to my life with their vegan doughnuts and their oat milk dirty chai lattes. It’s the perfect morning treat to hold you over until your table is ready at St. Francis Fountain.
Breakfast: St. Francis Fountain
St. Francis Fountain is really a treat and just a minute walk from Dynamo Doughnuts. A gem in a city full of overpriced eggs benedict and millionaires bacon. This classic soda fountain/lunch counter situation was founded in 1918. It is truly a San Francisco staple with an ever-evolving menu. With traditional and vegan options everyone can eat well for a very reasonable price. Make sure you grab a milkshake for the road!
Lunch: Media Noche
Searching for a Cuban sandwich, look no further than Media Noche. Back when I ate cheese I enjoyed quite a few Cuban sandwiches for this spot and I miss them dearly. Their Luncheon Asado Bowl has almost made up for it. I suggest trying both for yourself. Not a pork lover? Well, they’ve got options including a vegan sandwich and bowl. Check it out!
One of the most, if not the most, affordable tapas restaurants in San Francisco. Picaro is truly a treat and a favorite in my friend group. Give me the spicy sauce served with bread and I glass of sangria and I am a happy woman. Add a few of there menu items and it just gets better. I have no words to describe my love for Picaro, I went to dinner their last night and I’m ready to go again, right now.
I hope you have the opportunity to check these places out if you haven’t already. The next time you go tell them I sent you. They’ll have no idea who you’re talking about but why not.
